The entry to Yoshida Shrine next to the Kyoto University, considered one of the best in Japan. We went on a little adventure through the forest and snow over a big hill to get to the beginning of the Philosophers Walk.
Alot of fun was had in the forest.
The kids spent alot of time having snowball fights and ambushing unexpecting adults from behind trees. In this photo Andrew and Ally are standing under Lee's umbrella, while Jack shakes the snow from the tree above.
The Ginkakuji Temple (Silver Temple). The gardens of the Temple were just beautiful. Even a huge camelia hedge which you walked through to get into the grounds. This was once the retirement home of Shogun Yoshimasa in 1490 and then made into a temple after his death. The temple was never covered in the silver foil to imitate his grandfather's Gold Pavillion temple (which we will visit in the next few days).
Claire and Justine strolling along the Philosopher's Walk. A 1.8km canalside path named after a famous philosopher from Kyoto who walked along here as his meditation. The walk is now lined with cherry trees, shops, houses and coffee bars.

Enjoyed the photos this morning of your New Years Party. Amazing to see the snow while you were on the train and pleased the train was able to finish the journey.
